Welcome to Project Audience
Project Audience is a community of practice committed to building lasting connections through arts and culture. Our core strategy involves developing collaborative, affordable, sustainable technologies to help local, regional, and national-level arts service organizations to support activities and services encouraging more people to get more involved in the arts, and in cultural programs and activities.
We define ourselves as a community of practice – not just an alliance or consortium, but a self-governing group of organizations committed to pooling our talents and resources and working together to deliver the tools and services necessary to achieve our shared vision. Our core values include inclusiveness, diversity, shared responsibility, clarity of purpose, and transparency of process.
· We believe in the intrinsic value of a wide range of arts and cultural activities and the benefits to communities of a culturally-involved populace.
· We believe in the power of collaboration to overcome the limitations of decentralized, isolated and chronically under-resourced systems of arts service organizations.
· We believe in the need to balance transactional support for people wanting connection to arts organizations today with transformative support for new forms of connections between people, the arts, and arts organizations for years to come.
· We believe that communities benefit when cultural programs and institutions work collaboratively with arts service organizations, at the community level and beyond, to advance a set of overarching goals aimed at community cultural vitality.
· We believe in the power of open, collaborative technologies to stimulate, inform, connect and enrich audiences and participants, and we envision a time in the near future when, through our efforts, every community will have access to a sustainable set of technologies to help build lasting connections to the arts and culture.
· We assert that what we can achieve together will, over time, transcend what we have been able to, or will be able to, achieve separately.
Strong cultural programs and institutions require strong, lasting connections between people, the arts, and culture. As signatories of this manifesto, we commit our institutions to establishing and enlarging a national and international community of practice around sustainable technologies to support those connections, and to moving forward collaboratively to undertake the work that will make this vision a reality. Together, we will help to build lasting connections through arts and culture.
